Brian Dutton

Brian Dutton has been fortunate to be involved with the marching arts idiom for well over two decades. In that time span, Brian evolved from performer to technician to director to designer to adjudicator and floats between the fields at a moment's notice to this day. Brian began his pageantry career as a trumpet player with the L.D. Bell Blue Raider Band (TX) and upon graduation, furthered his instrumental education in the Sam Houston State University Bearkat Marching Band and Concert Bands (TX).

Concurrently, Brian marched with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (OH) for four years in both the brass and color guard sections (2004-07), and after shifting his focus from the musical side of the activity to the visual side, Brian progressed his skill set as a marching member of four different Winter Guard International World Class finalist organizations across the state of Texas from 2006 to 2015.

Brian holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Sam Houston State University (TX) as well as a master's degree in special educational leadership from Arkansas State University (AR). After Having spent 8 years in the mathematics classroom, Brian transitioned full time to designing in 2019. Brian now owns his own design business, DutDutDesigns, alongside his husband, Austin, of 11 years. If not working with a pageantry group Brian can be found at his home in Kansas City, Missouri with Austin and their three Orange cats, Shim, Oliver, and Jasper.

 

 

Austin NElson

Austin Nelson has been involved with the marching arts activity for nearly two decades. In that time, Austin has worn many hats within the idiom, most recently as a designer, choreographer, and adjudicator. Austin began his career as a trumpet player with the Edmond North High School Band (OK) and decided to continue his education upon graduation as part of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys Marching and Concert Bands (OK). During his time at Oklahoma State University, Austin marched with Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (TN) for one year as well as the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (OH) for two years.

Once deciding that the marching arts was something he wanted to pursue as part of his career, Austin decided to continue expanding his performance and educational skill set as a marching member of Eclectix Independent Winter Guard for two years.

Austin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Arkansas (AR) as well as a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Arkansas State University (AR). Austin feels fortunate having spent many years developing skills directing Various color guards, designing programs, as well as working as a judge across several states such as Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. Austin uses these skills learned today while running two businesses alongside his husband of 11 years, Brian. The first being a choreography and design business for the marching arts. The second being a home renovation and Design business. If not designing, or renovating, or guarding colors, Austin can be found at home with Brian and their three cats Shim, Oliver, and Jasper in Kansas City, Missouri.
