-biography-

Brian Dutton has been fortunate to be involved with the marching arts idiom for well over two decades. In that time span, Brian evolved from performer to technician to director to designer to adjudicator and floats between the fields at a moment's notice to this day. Brian began his pageantry career as a trumpet player with the L.D. Bell Blue Raider Band (TX) and upon graduation, furthered his instrumental education in the Sam Houston State University Bearkat Marching Band and Concert Bands (TX).

Concurrently, Brian marched with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (OH) for four years in both the brass and color guard sections (2004-07), and after shifting his focus from the musical side of the activity to the visual side, Brian progressed his skill set as a marching member of four different Winter Guard International World Class finalist organizations across the state of Texas.

Brian holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Sam Houston State University (TX) as well as a master's degree in special educational leadership from Arkansas State University (AR). Having spent 8 years in the mathematics classroom and then transitioning full time to designing in 2019, Brian is fortunate to still use both of his degrees when he designs and instructs students around the country when visiting his clients.

Brian now owns his own design business, DutDutDesigns, alongside his husband, Austin, of 10 years. If not working with a pageantry group Brian can be found at his home in Kansas City, Missouri with Austin and their two cats, Addison and Shim.
